Rawson Wins Blitz Final

RECORD CROWD FOR BLITZ GOLF

Blitz Adelaide was simply sensational.

A record Blitz Golf crowd and third biggest golf event crowd during the Australian Summer of Golf has witnessed an epic event which sets the benchmark of what is to come!

The field featured much of SA’s best talent with Wade Ormsby, Adam Bland, Stephen Leaney, Jason Norris and Jack Thompson amongst the most fancied whilst celebrities included fan favourite Glenn Maxwell, Crows captain Jordan Dawson and Power stars Zak Butters and Ryan Burton.

In the space of just over 3 hours, a record crowd of just over 3000 people checked in at Blitz Golf Adelaide and the Stadium Hole was pumping. The galleries around the feature hole and 1st tee were full; and a massive contingent followed the feature groups.

In Round 1, there was a 4-way tie at the top with Max McCardle, Kristalle Blum, Jack Wilson and Adam Bland all shooting -2 through the 6 holes.

Jordan Dawson hit arguably the shot of the day with his drive on the Par 4 2nd hole almost landing the green whilst Glenn Maxwell was the best placed celebrity at +1 and only missing out on the 2nd round via an NTP to Brady Watt.

The 3-hole Round 2 Blitz was led by Campbell Rawson and Stephen Leaney at -2 and Max McCardle sunk an incredible lengthy putt to finish -1 and avoid the logjam which featured a record playoff - with 7 players on Even vying for the last spot in the Final. The theatre was just beginning.

Wade Ormsby was the 5th player up and after watching a few near misses stepped up to hole out the 30m chip in front of a raucous crowd. 15 year old young gun Jack Leonard’s chip was agonisingly short and when Adam Bland’s chip just missed, Wade had claimed the final spot in the Final.

The Final 4 saw Wade best positioned with his pin high approach shot; however Campbell Rawson changed everything when he used his hybrid to punch from just off the green to sink an unlikely birdie after Stephen Leaney missed his long range attempt.

Max McCardle then stepped up and just missed his mid range putt before Wade with everything on the line also narrowly missed.

The scene was wild and Campbell Rawson claimed his first Blitz win. A massive congratulations also to Adam Bland who was this yea'r’s point race winner after his win in Melbourne and two semi-final appearances.

The 23/24 series has concluded. Massive plans are now underway for 24/25 with much to be revealed soon.
