Blitz Golf Gains Global Interest

BLITZ TOURNAMENT GAINS GLOBAL INTEREST AMONG RENEWED GOLF EXCITEMENT

Competition on the fairways is being redefined as Blitz Golf, the world’s only short-form version of the sport continues to make a big impact as it offers a fresh, new opportunity for players and spectators alike to enjoy the game from a different perspective.

The Australian-born idea, which brings golf professionals and celebrities together in an action-packed three-hour format, has grown exponentially in its four seasons to date by offering something to both traditional golf watchers and those just looking for an exciting and enjoyable day’s entertainment.

Founder and Director of Blitz Golf, Simon Zybek, says the tournament is designed to complement and integrate with the regular golf season:

“Blitz Golf is the perfect format for twilight entertainment, as well as being ideal for both on course fans and television/online audiences,” says Simon. “It can co-exist with any golf tour – Tuesday night golf could become the perfect complementary addition to any event in the world, bringing a sponsorship and television friendly product into tournament week”.

Blitz Golf has risen from a small budget competition into a national series now taking place across four states over the Australian summer.

The competition consists of just 10 holes in three hours, where rounds get progressively shorter as participants are eliminated; starting with 6 holes in Round 1, 3 holes in Round 2 (with 50% of the field) and then a 1 hole final for the top 4 players from Round 2. Centred around a stadium hole, the event lifts to a high energy climax with continuous live music; and with the entire crowd surrounding the winning shot.

Simon says the tournament intends to engage fans from all sports and all walks of life; with pop-up bars, food trucks, live music and child friendly entertainment also adding to the unique event atmosphere.

“On the back of exciting developments across the professional game globally, golf has never been more popular,” says Simon. Blitz Golf is a tournament that excels in bringing fresh excitement to the game.  “Blitz Golf is an entertainment brand, with golf as the central attraction.  It is a fun, light-hearted atmosphere while still maintaining the attributes of a high prize money professional golf competition.”

Holding the record for the richest single day golf purse event in Australia, Blitz Golf has also smashed single-day golf event attendance records across the country with the upcoming series promising to attract many thousands more, off the back of renewed interest in the game.

As domestic popularity continues to grow, international interest from media channels, sponsors and investors is increasing in Blitz Golf, with the tournament now looking to expand its format globally with cities such as London, Singapore, Las Vegas, Dubai, and Delhi among cities favoured to host events in the inaugural Blitz Golf International Series along with an event in a major city within Australia.

The 2023-24 Australian Blitz Golf season will begin in Brisbane (Queensland) on Friday, December 29 2023, before rounds in Melbourne and the Yarra Valley (Victoria) and Sydney (NSW) and then concluding in Adelaide (South Australia) on Friday, January 19 2024.
