Data Centre Technician – manages the flow of scoring information from players and updates the Blitz Golf App. UHF ch7.
Blitzy– the official mascot of Blitz Golf.
Volunteer Staff
Rules Official x 1. Blitz Golf request that the host venue provide a Rules Official to deal with any rulings during the Event. The Blitz Golf COO’s word is final on any rules disputes, and he will be available throughout the event as required.
Scoring volunteers x 6 (minimum). Each Scoring Volunteer manages a group of players. They direct the group to their starting tee, ensure players complete their scores on the Blitz Golf App as soon as each hole is complete, and act as our eyes and ears on the course for any problems with scoring, rules, pace of play and event continuity. Each Scoring Volunteer carries a UHF radio to report any problems and to be available to event operations as necessary.
MC Communications Assistant x 1. The MC Comms Asst works directly with and in support of the MC to gather event information to provide to the MC as he informs the Stadium Hole crowd of event progress. The MC asst also gathers data from the Stadium Hole Comms Asst to facilitate the MC’s announcement of each player as they play the Stadium Hole
Stadium Hole Assistant x 1. The Stadium Hole Assistant is positioned on the Stadium Hole Tee throughout the event. They provide player information to the
MC Comms Assistant before each player tees off on the Stadium Hole, to allow the MC to inform the crowd of who’s teeing off and their position in the event.
Ticket Checkers x 2. Two Volunteers are positioned at the entry point/s to ensure spectators have a ticket, or to direct them to where they can purchase.
Notes
Blitz Golf will provide volunteer information/Standard Operating Procedures to all volunteers ahead of the event. Blitz Golf will also set up an Event WhatsApp channel ahead of the event for any volunteers to ask questions before the event. From experience – the earlier that volunteers are appointed and allocated their roles, the better the event will run on event day.
Blitz Golf App. The BG App is available for all volunteers to download. This should be downloaded and a login established before event day.
THE SCHEDULE
PRE-EVENT
14:00 Blitz Golf & Host Venue Operations Alignment Meeting
14:30 MC Final Briefing with BG. MC will have been briefed ahead of event day.
15:00 Volunteer Briefing.
16:30 Gates open. The DJ commences their set. All on course facilities to be open. Fan activations have commenced.
THE EVENT
17:40 Fan briefing - thank you, major sponsors announcements as shown on Blitz Golf Website. Encourage all fans to get around the Stadium Hole ready for the Player Introductions.
17:45 Player introductions and then MC to interview the players from the Feature Group live on the Stadium hole.
Players to be read out one at a time on the order listed on the Blitz Golf App, mentioning their starting hole. As they are introduced their player profile graphic is shown on the Big Screen. This is designed to be no more than 3 minutes so approximately 8-10 seconds apart and keep it flowing.
The 4 players in the Feature group (last group called) who are starting on the Stadium Hole to be kept at the Stadium Hole for live interviews.
17:50 Player Interviews. Feature group.
17:55 ‘Beat the Pro’ Sponsor Shootout. One VIP pre-selected (by MC assistant) and selects who they would like to have a NTP against - any player from the feature Group. MC to conduct NTP and the winner will receive a prize thanks to the Sponsor of the activation. This showcases the NTP in the event there are any ties after Round 1 or Round 2. MC Assistant to have left and right handed wedge and balls ready.
18:00 Round 1 commences - 6 holes / 24 players.
19:30 Call any players for tiebreaker (yellow dots on Leaderboard) to Shootout area. Shootout to occur after activation.
19:35 Player Interviews. Interview the Round 1 Leader(s)
19:40 After completion of Round 1, Sponsor Activation. Two pre-determined spectators (by MC assistant) will compete in a putting race. The winner will get a prize thanks to our activation sponsor. Both players start equidistant on opposite sides of the pin on the Stadium Hole. They putt and must wait for ball to stop before hitting again. First in the hole wins. MC Assistant to have 2 left handed putters and 2 right handed putters and balls ready.
19:45 Round 2 commences - 3 holes / 12 players.
20:30 Call any players for tiebreaker (yellow dots) to Shootout area. Shootout to occur after activation.
20:35 Player Interviews. Interview the Round 2 Leader(s)
20:40 After completion of Round 2, Sponsor Activation. A pre-selected person (by MC assistant) will have one putt from either 4” to win …, 12” to win … or 24” to win … and they get to choose. One shot. One opportunity. MC Assistant to have left and right handed putter and balls ready.
20:45 Final commences - 1 hole / 4 players
20:55 Final replayed - 1 hole (if required)
21:05 NTP from Stadium hole tee (if required)
21:10 Winner presented with Trophy.
21:15 MC to Interview winner on the Stadium hole.
MAJOR ACTIVATION (During Round 1 and Round 2)
During the event, in any round there is the Major Sponsor Activation. If any player hits their shot on the Stadium Hole within the 12” white circle around the Stadium Hole Pin, then someone will be selected from the crowd (by MC assistant). There could be multiple people selected on the hole.
As soon as the players have completed the hole, the fans will have a putt from 24”. The jackpot from the start of the series (MC will know the current value) will go up by 100 GBP for every putt missed. If a fan makes it the jackpot goes off!
